I was at the Asian grocery the other day and shopping for hot pot ingredients and saw this indoor grill thing. I said to myself, hey that looks interesting and I impulsively bought it.
It made me ponder about what exactly is grilling for? And why would you grill on the stove. I’ve actually had a couple of stovetop grills and they never seemed to work very well. I suppose my idea of grilling is to get the grill marks or possibly smoke flavor.
I was reading the box and one of the selling points is the well of water that catches the grease that drips from the food. And I thought, hey that’s interesting, which made me go look up the purpose of grilling. According to Wikipedia that’s it–cooking that doesn’t have the food sit in grease or whatever.
I think this indoor grill works pretty good for that. And there’s a lot less splatter that needs to be cleaned up.
